1. Clemens Katzmaier, was born on the 1st of May 1682 in Honau and he died on the 10th of April 1756 in Grabenstetten where he was buried the following day.
Clemens Kazmaier came from Honau to Grabenstetten and married Johannes Blankenhorn’s, the mayor of Grabenstetten, daughter Anna. Clemens and Anna married on the 23rd of April 1704 in Grabenstetten. Anna Blankenhorn, the daughter of daughter of Johannes Blankenhorn and Waldburga Burckhardt, was born 17 Nov 1682 in Grabenstetten and died at the same place 29 May 1751.
Clemens and Anna had twelve children and their descendants build the huge Kazmaier population in today’s Grabenstetten. From their marriage record (Evangelische Kirche Grabenstetten, 1558-1946) we take it that a committee had to approve Anna’s and Clemens’ marriage [1]. “On April 23rd commission approved and joined Clemens Katzenmayer, Andreas Katzenmayer’s, former mayor of Honau, posthumous legitimate son, and Anna, Johann Blankenhorn’s, the local mayor’s legitimate daughter.”
Most people may not know that there was a minimum age of 25 for marriage in Württemberg at that time. The couple both were only 22, however, both were the children of Honau’s, respectively Grabenstetten’s mayors and therefore the committee was probably not afraid that the young couple would become a burden for the local township and approved the marriage generously. On the other hand Anna was already heavily pregnant and both the couple and their parents wanted to avoid little Johannes, who was about to be born five weeks later, being an illegitimate child.
